Internally Displaced People Rehabilitation Project Guradhamole – Phase II

Project objectives

Enhance the living conditions of the people in the Guradhamole district and improve the livelihoods of the internally displaced community

Project Area

The project was implemented in five IDP sites/Kebeles, namely Gooni, Harodibe, Harunka, Tuullo Abdullahi, and Adelle, in Guradhamole Woreda of the Liban zone, Somali Regional State, Ethiopia.

Project Beneficiaries

The target groups of this project are the internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing in the five sites and their immediate host communities. The direct beneficiaries include 10,400 individuals (4,900 females) from the IDP population and 8,300 individuals (2,100 females) from the host communities living in the Guradamole district.

The project’s indirect beneficiaries are over 21,000 (10,000 female) people from Somali and Oromia neighboring districts. They will benefit from the community’s peaceful coexistence restoration.  Besides, district administration leaders and local government office staff are also indirect beneficiaries of the project by gaining knowledge and skills on building peaceful coexistence among the communities.

Major project activities and outputs

  1. Peaceful Coexistence: 3,400 individuals (1,600 females) from IDPs and 1,800 from the host community
  2. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene: 3,470 individuals (1,560 females), including 2,470 IDPs and 1,000 from the host community
  3. Asset Building and Income Generation Activities: 11,030 individuals (460 females), including 1,014 IDPs and 16 from the host community
  4. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response: 43,500 individuals (1,700 females), including 2,000 IDPs and 1,500 from the host community
  5. COVID-19 Infection Prevention
  6. Participatory Joint Monitoring
