Update No:3

Provision of financial assistance for GBV survivors in all target woredas in consultation with the Regional Health Bureau (RHB) and Bureau of Women and Social Affairs (BoWSA) to support recovery so that survivors can meet immediate needs.

survivors of gender-based violence frequently face numerous economic and financial hurdles both during and after their traumatic experiences. These challenges can have lasting and severe impacts on their financial stability. Recognizing this, it becomes imperative to address their financial needs alongside providing other essential forms of assistance.

In line with this commitment, PAPDA has taken a significant stride in supporting GBV survivors. A key initiative involves facilitating the provision of financial assistance tailored to the needs of women and girls, particularly those who have survived gender-based violence. This assistance is strategically designed to enable survivors to access critical services, such as legal aid, medical treatment, transportation, and accommodation, which might otherwise be financially out of reach for them. This comprehensive approach aims to alleviate the economic burden on survivors and empower them in their journey towards recovery.

Provide Psychosocial Support (PSS) and life skill sessions at the Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS) through the establishment of targeted mental health and psychosocial support in all target woredas.

PAPDA has delivered Psychosocial Support (PSS) to a total of 2,361 women and girls, encompassing GBV survivors and individuals with special needs, including those with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. This support is provided through targeted mental health and psychosocial programs, incorporating psychological counseling, socialization activities, and skill training.

The skill training programs are conducted by supplying recreational equipment, such as handicraft materials, to enhance the emotional and psychological well-being of GBV survivors. These programs not only encourage socialization but also foster social integration, contributing to the overall recovery and empowerment of those receiving support.
