PAPDA Hosts Transitional Justice Consortium Meeting: Welcoming a New Member
Following the inauguration of the meeting on March 15, 2024, at the PAPDA Head Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. PAPDA hosted the Transitional Justice Consortium’s second meeting on March 28th, 2024. The objective of the consortium, emphasize its significance in peacebuilding and contributing to the nation’s peaceful co-existence. The consortium aims to facilitate experience-sharing and support the government’s reconciliation process. The meeting covered key agenda items, an Introduction to the 4th consortium member, and an Overview of the consortium’s formation and core members.
CECSOP’s board members and a briefing from Abdulkadir, PAPDA’s executive director, on the consortium’s aim to foster peacebuilding and support national reconciliation efforts. CECSOP delivered a detailed presentation covering the organization’s establishment, mission, and operational framework, including capacity-building and fund allocation strategies. Discussions ensued, addressing questions about the consortium’s engagement strategy, operational scope, and fund management preferences, emphasizing the importance of legal procedures.
Dr. Marshet then presented the Consortium of Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Transitional Justice, highlighting CSOs’ roles in grassroots engagement and coordination. Discussions focused on addressing grassroots perceptions of transitional justice, collaboration duration, and trust-building within the consortium. PAPDA’s leadership role was acknowledged, leveraging its expertise in peacebuilding and transitional justice. The meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of collaboration, with action points identified for further progress, including the selection of focal points from CECSOP and a teaming agreement to enhance collaboration efforts.
